GREEN for Business

When you choose to buy cleaner electricity you help reduce air pollution. In fact, an average business customer purchasing cleaner electricity on our 100% plan for a year can avoid contributing 2,970 pounds of CO2-e into the air, or what a car produces in 3303 miles.

Now with the exciting changes we’ve made to our program, when you choose green power you also get a vote in which local organization’s renewable energy project will receive this year’s grant money. Your contributions will help fund this project in our local community!

  • Businesses can purchase green power for 100%, 50%, 25%, or 10% of their usage. The cost is 0.8 cents per kWh (in addition to the regular bill).

  • The 100% GREEN plan, purchases green energy equal to all of your monthly usage. The cost is 0.8 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) (in addition to your regular bill). That’s approximately $10 more per month for an average household.
  • With the 50% GREEN plan, half the power you buy is generated from green resources. It costs an additional 0.8 cents per kWh (in addition to your regular bill). That’s approximately $5 more per month.
  • Costs for these programs may vary, depending on how much electricity you use.

Who can benefit most from Off Peak Advantage?

Customers who are strongly motivated to save money and willing to change their usage habits accordingly are best suited for the program. It is not a good fit for households that don't have flexibility to change their usage patterns, or have family members who are less motivated to adjust their usage habits. In fact, those who enroll in the Off Peak Advantage program and are unsuccessful in shifting usage to off peak hours could see their energy costs increase.

Tips for Shifting Peak Usage

Shifting your energy usage from peak hours to off peak hours is easier than you might think. Here are some of the most effective changes you can make to benefit from Off Peak Advantage:

  • Adjust your thermostat to reduce heating and cooling during peak hours or when you are not home.
  • Operate large appliances such as washing machines, clothes dryers, and dishwashers during off-peak hours.
  • Install timers on electric water heaters so they operate mainly during off-peak hours.
  • If you have an electric vehicle, charge it during off-peak hours.
  • Set timers on pool and spa pumps to run during off-peak hours.
  • Turn off all non-essential lights during on-peak hours.
  • Enjoy electricity-consuming hobbies during the off-peak hours.
Tools to Help You Save

To assist Off Peak Advantage enrollees in reducing their peak energy usage, they will receive one of these tools: a Google Nest Smart Thermostat or an Energy Efficiency kit (pictured above).

Google Nest Smart Thermostats are available only to residential customers with electric forced air furnaces and qualified heat pumps. Customer must verify thermostat is compatible with their furnace or heat pump before ordering. Ineligible participants will receive the energy efficiency kit.
