Scholarships are available yearly to those starting or continuing their college or trade school education and adults seeking second career training. Emerald People’s Utility District (EPUD) awards up to five $3,000 scholarships totaling $15,000 to students interested in pursuing utility industry careers.
Graduating high school seniors or adults who have graduated high school or received their GED from an accredited educational institution may apply. High school or college transcript must show an accumulated 2.0 GPA at minimum. Scholarships are awarded to five EPUD customers or their family members who are attending a college, university, or trade school.
Winners of the 2022 EmPOWERing Scholarships will be selected by the end of May. At that time, students will be notified. Photos and details of the scholarship recipients will appear in our PowerLines newsletter, social media channels, and on the homepage of this website in June.
The electric utility industry employs a broad range of people with widely varying skills and trades, including line work, tree trimming, engineering, energy efficiency, accounting, communications, graphic design, customer service, human resources, and many others. An EmPOWERing Scholarship can help you further your education and learn the skills that may lead to a utility career in the future.
Scholarship monies are distributed to the institution selected by the scholarship recipient.
