Emerald People’s Utility District board member Lee Kelley is resigning from the EPUD board of directors effective March 1, 2018.

“As you may know, I sold my business a few years ago and recently sold the building. This has freed me up to do something I have not been able to do in the 35 years I have run my hardware store: Travel,” Kelley said in his resignation letter.

“I have fully enjoyed my time on the Board, but now want to travel more while I am still young and healthy enough to do so.  I have been thinking about this for some time and brought it up with staff last Fall.

“In my time on the Board I have gained an appreciation for how complicated this business is and how well our staff has worked to ensure our customers have a safe, affordable and reliable system.  Indeed, it has come a long way since I started my business, and Emerald started serving others and me in Veneta,” he said.

The EPUD board of directors will interview candidates to fill Kelley’s position. Individuals living in Subdistrict 2 can apply online or drop off a letter of interest beginning Feb. 14. The deadline is 6 pm Feb. 21. Subdistrict 2 includes Alvadore, Demming, Elmira, Fern Ridge, Noti and Veneta precincts.
