Understanding EPUD’s Board of Directors

At EPUD, decisions are made locally—by people who live in the communities we serve. EPUD’s Board of Directors is made up of elected community members, each representing a different area of our service district. Because they are elected by customers, they are directly accountable to the people they serve.

The Board acts as the policy-setting body for the utility, helping guide the direction of EPUD. Their responsibilities include:

• Setting electric rates
• Approving the utility’s budget
• Establishing policies and priorities
• Providing oversight to ensure EPUD operates in the best interest of its customer-owners

Board members listen to community feedback and make decisions during public meetings, where actions are taken as a group, not by individual members.

While the Board focuses on long-term decisions and policies, EPUD staff handle day-to-day operations—keeping the lights on and serving customers.
