"Unloading" ice is causing new damages and new outages. Unloading means that as ice starts to melt, it will suddenly fall off an entire span of wire. This puts sudden, violent shock on poles, and is happening throughout our service territory.
Many poles and spans of wire have come down, and Creswell, Dexter, most of Junction City, Coburg, and Alvadore are without power again. Approximately 12,000 customers are affected. The outages in the west and north District are transmission-related. There is wire down on I-5.
The outages are growing, unfortunately, and reversing much of the progress we've made so far.
