The days are getting warmer, and as we move into the summer months, the risk of wildfire grows as well. As we’ve seen in recent years, wildfires can start unexpectedly and grow quickly. It’s important to know where to look for evacuation information and fire weather updates, particularly for those who live in or near forested areas.

Public Safety Power Shut-off (PSPS)
Our goal is always to keep our customers’ power on for as long as it’s safe to do so. During fire weather, EPUD staff carefully monitors multiple news, weather, and emergency management sources to stay aware of weather conditions, the status of active wildfires, and the level of wildfire risk in the utility's service territory and surrounding areas. These factors are considered throughout the weather event and before any modifications to the electric system's operating conditions are made.
If a Public Safety Power Shut-off (PSPS) becomes necessary, we will attempt to give adequate warning, although it may not always be possible. Wildfire is unpredictable and moves quickly. If there is time for an automated phone message, text, and/or email to go out before the PSPS begins, we must have your current contact information on file in order for you to receive the message.
