The competition is underway as three local organizations vie for the 2026 GREEN Grant! With $40,000 available to fund a renewable energy project, the winning proposal will be selected by subscribers of GREEN—EPUD’s voluntary renewable energy program.
Now through August 6, 2026, GREEN participants can vote for the project they’d like to see funded with program dollars. View the finalists below!

St. Vincent de Paul Society, Cottage Grove
Solar array system – 10.56 kW, roof-mounted system
St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County, Inc. (SVdP) is a nonprofit community development organization committed to ending cycles of poverty and homelessness in the communities they serve. Their proposal for installation of a 10.56 kW photovoltaic system on the roof of their Cottage Grove “St. Vinnie’s” retail thrift store would reduce operating expenses and carbon emissions. SVdP is committed to serving its community and being responsible environmental stewards.
Friends of Buford Park & Mt. Pisgah, Eugene
Solar array system – 7.92 kW, roof-mounted system
Based in Eugene, Oregon, the Friends of Buford Park and Mt. Pisgah (Friends) nurture and restore our connection to nature. Their proposed solar energy system would be built on the tractor barn in the nursery at Buford Park and is expected to offset about half of the power the organization uses annually. A longtime
GREEN subscriber, Friends is committed to renewable energy and has long aspired to contribute to power generation. This system will initiate the next step toward their commitment to a resilient future.
Cottage Theatre, Cottage Grove
Solar array system – 24.08 kW, roof-mounted system
Cottage Theatre produces plays and musicals year-round featuring talented Lane County performers. The volunteer-centered organization serves an annual audience in excess of 13, 000 people. Cottage Theatre plans to install a rooftop solar panel array to increase their investment in renewable energy. Beyond reducing energy costs, the project stems from Cottage Theatre’s ongoing commitment to reduce waste, improve energy efficiency, and minimize the environmental impact of its operations.
(Project would exceed the GREEN Grant limit. If this project wins the grant, the Cottage Theatre would be responsible for all expenses exceeding $40,000.)
