The US National Weather Service Portland Oregon (NWS) has issued the Red Flag Warning to start at 11 PM tonight, 7/20/24, and continue until 11 AM tomorrow, 7/21/24.
At the time of this post, 1 PM Saturday, EPUD's electric system is operating normally. We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and forecasts, and will keep you informed if conditions progress or if the utility takes further action.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now or will shortly. A combination of the following conditions can contribute to extreme fire behavior. Per the NWS, frequent lightning and critically dry fuels may result in numerous fire starts.Thunderstorm outflow winds (gusts up to 40 MPH possible) may result in erratic fire spread.
