Because EPUD’s District is heavily forested and trees are the number one cause of outages, our tree trimming crews work year-round to maintain vegetation and clear rights-of-way near power lines. This is critical work that not only dramatically reduces the number of outages as well as the duration, but also significantly decreases the risk of igniting a fire during the hot and dry summer months.
The tree crews perform aggressive tree trimming and brush removal as they move through more than 550 square miles of service territory. They have the important responsibility of managing vegetation and removing tree limbs, dead trees, or “danger trees” from the power line right of way.
