The EmPOWERing Scholarship program of Emerald People’s Utility District just got a power boost. The board of directors voted to more than double annual scholarship giving to $15,000.

Scholarships are available to youth starting and continuing their college or trade school education as well as adults seeking second career training. EPUD will award up to five (5) $3,000 scholarships totaling $15,000 in 2018 to students interested in pursuing utility industry careers. Scholarships will be awarded to EPUD customers or family members attending an Oregon college, university, or trade school. Applicants must have graduated high school in Lane County or received their GED from an accredited Lane County educational institution. High school or college transcript must show an accumulated GPA of at least 2.0.

The electric utility industry employs a broad range of people with widely varying skills and trades, including line work, tree trimming, engineering, energy efficiency, accounting, communications, graphic design, customer service, and human resources, and many others. An EmPOWERing Scholarship can help you further your education and learn the skills that may lead to a utility career in the future.
