Emerald’s Board makes decisions with your help!
One of the great things about public power is your involvement in it. At Emerald People’s Utility District (EPUD), we invite Customer-Owners to serve on Citizens Advisory Committees (CACs). These committees advise the Board when key decisions need to be made. We have two standing CACs: the Finance and Rates Committee and the Resource Planning Committee. Since 1983, when EPUD began, Customer-Owners have grappled with the complex issues involved in making important decisions.
The Committees
- Finance and Rates: The Finance and Rates CAC meets at least once per year in the fall to review Emerald’s operating budget. They study utility expenditures and revenues and review financial activities. This committee also meets as needed to review Emerald’s rate structure and design. The group has a maximum of 23 members appointed by the Board from each customer class and sub-district.
- Resource Planning: This CAC meets as needed to review Emerald’s long-term energy resource plans and makes recommendations on resource acquisition proposals. This committee consists of eight members appointed by the Board, one from each Residential sub-district and one each from the Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional customer classes.
