Manager’s Message
January 1, 2022

EPUD General Manager Kyle RoadmanDear Customer-Owners,

I hope this message finds you well in the New Year!

For those of you I don’t already know, my name is Kyle Roadman and I officially began serving as Emerald’s General Manager on January 1, 2022. While this particular role is new, I’ve actually been with the utility for nearly a dozen years. During this time, I served as a senior manager in charge of power supply and also headed our long-term planning efforts. I’m very excited to now be leading the utility as we look to execute on our goals for the future. I honestly can’t wait to get to work every day.

Emerald is important to me and I want you to know your utility is in good hands. I was born and raised in Oregon. Lane County is the only place I’d ever want to call home. It’s where my wife and I have raised our kids since they were in diapers (they’re now in middle school so please wish us luck). Because of this connection, I’m passionate about the work we do in providing an essential service to the rural parts of our community. I realize you depend on us in your daily life and I don’t take this responsibility lightly. That’s why I’m committed to building on our past success and taking the utility even further in the years ahead. This includes continued reliability improvements, expanded customer service offerings, and new investments to build a more resilient organization.

Read our Strategic Plan for much more information on our plans for the future.

This is an exciting chapter in Emerald’s history. Although we stand on the shoulders of our founders and their vision for a community based organization, we are no longer the “little utility that could” from 40 years ago. In fact, by some measures we are nearly double the size we were back in the day. This presents challenges to be sure, but also plenty of opportunities to better serve all of our customers. I look forward to sharing more about these in the months ahead.

Through it all, I commit to you that I will remain laser focused on our mission of delivering safe, reliable, low-cost power. I also believe it’s important to have open communication with all customers, and will be publishing regular updates to the Manager’s Message portion of our website (access by going to www.epud.org/gm). Finally, please feel free to contact me directly for any reason at kyle@epud.org.

Emerald is a special place and it’s truly the honor of my professional life to be leading this organization into the future. Here’s to many great years ahead.

Please stay safe,

Kyle Roadman
