October is an exciting month for public power utilities nationwide. It’s the time of year we celebrate Public Power Week and recognize the importance of public power in our lives and communities.
How is public power different? It’s the principles of public power that set Emerald apart from investor-owned utilities. For example, we provide efficient service at the lowest cost consistent with reliability and community goals. And utility benefits, such as conservation, education, and safety programs, remain right here in our communities.
Because reliability is essential to excellent service, our crews and staff live and work in the communities we serve to provide quick response to storms and other customer needs. These are just a few of the benefits provided to you by public power.
Emerald celebrates Public Power Week along with more than 2,000 other community-owned, not-for-profit electric utilities providing electricity to more than 48 million Americans. Please join us!
Monday through Thursday, October 9-12, we’ll have pastries, popcorn, and drinks in our lobby from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for you to enjoy. Come meet Emerald staff and learn about public power and the programs we offer. Plus, receive a free gift and enter to win a prize.
We hope to see you there!
