Green Power Program

Looking for an easy and affordable way to do more for the environment? At EPUD, we're excited to offer a 100% Green Power program. When you choose to buy cleaner electricity, you help reduce air pollution. An average customer purchasing cleaner electricity on our 100% plan for a year can avoid contributing almost 17,000 pounds of greenhouse gas (CO2) into the air. This is what a car produces in over 18,000 miles.

Residential

The 100% Green Power Plan purchases green energy equal to ALL of your monthly usage. The cost is .8 cents (less than a penny) per kWh (in addition to your regular bill). That's approximately $10 more per month for an average household using 1,310 kWh monthly. Your cost may vary, depending on how much electricity you use.

With the 50% Green Power Plan half the power you buy is generated from green resources. It costs an additional .8 cents (less than a penny) per kWh (in addition to your regular bill). That's approximately $5 more per month for an average household using 1,310 kWh monthly. Your cost may vary, depending on how much electricity you use.

Business

Businesses can also purchase green power -100%, 50%, 25%, or 10% of their usage. The cost is .8 cents (less than a penny) per kWh (in addition to the regular bill).

Solar Electric Program

EPUD encourages customer-owners that are interested in purchasing and installing a solar photovoltaic (PV) system to first consider as much energy efficiency as possible. Installing PV on an inefficient home or business may not be practical or a sound financial investment.

As a customer-owner of EPUD, you can generate your own local and renewable energy using the power of the sun. EPUD offers cash incentives for qualifying grid-tied solar electric systems. It is important for you to obtain reliable information so that you can make a good decision about your new investment. EPUD maintains a list of local PV contractors that are licensed, insured and have some measure of experience working with utility incentive programs. CLICK HERE to see a list of EPUD-participating contractors for PV systems.

All EPUD incentives require project pre-approval to ensure the availability of a customer incentive. In addition, both state and federal tax incentives may be available for your system.

Residential

For qualified residential solar electric systems, EPUD offers up to $2 per Watt, CEC weighted AC capacity, with a maximum of $10,000 available. Until funding is depleted.

Business

For qualified residential solar electric systems, EPUD offers up to $1 per Watt, CEC weighted AC capacity, with a maximum of $25,000 available. Until funding is depleted.

Short Mountain Power Plant

EPUD generates electricity from garbage gases at Lane County’s Short Mountain Landfill. Gases that contribute to global warming are collected and burned to provide electricity to almost 1,000 homes in EPUD’s District. CLICK HERE for more information.

History of Emerald's Green Resources

Renewable energy started flowing though EPUD's lines on January 1, 1999, delivering sustainable, pollution-free power to our customers. EPUD was the first utility in the Northwest to purchase a renewable resource from the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, chaired by Senator Mark Hatfield.

With respect to EPUD Renewables, green power is purchased from resources that are determined cost-effective for the program when our green-tag inventory is low.
