EPUD Gives Back Through United Way
January 06, 2012
Emerald People’s Utility District (EPUD) raised $23,818 for the United Way of Lane County during the 2011fundraising campaign marking an 11 percent increase in donations from 2010. This success was brought in part by the EPUD’s Employee Campaign Leaders, Sandra Anderson and Beth Matthews both of whom have been nominated for the Employee Campaign leader (ECL) of the Year award in the small business category -under 100 employees.
“Sandra and Beth worked tirelessly during the fall campaign season to provide EPUD employees with information about the state of agencies in Lane County and the urgent need for financial support,” says Christine Hames, resource development manager at United Way. “They attended ECL training and went on many agency tours in an effort to better educate themselves. The end result was a success.”
“United Way, partner agencies and non-profits throughout our community are truly grateful for EPUD’s ongoing commitment. Living United is not about the power of one but the power of many. EPUD is a great example of what can happen when people join together to ensure our agency programs and services continue.”
EPUD has participated in United Way fundraising campaigns since the mid-80’s raising more than $250,000 for Lane County. “I am proud of Emerald’s employees. They work together to make great things happen,” said Frank Lambe, Emerald PUD General Manager, and continued, “What a fantastic honor for Sandra and Beth. They lead by example and consistently project Emerald’s commitment to the community.”
EPUD is a not-for-profit electric utility formed in 1978 by a small group of local citizens who wanted better, customer oriented, service at the lowest possible rates. Today EPUD serves more than 20,000 meters in Lane County, Oregon.
