EPUD Launches Refrigerator/Freezer Recycling Program

Extra refrigerators or freezers chugging away in basements and garages can cost residents up to $150 a year in electricity. EPUD, in partnership with JACO Environmental, is encouraging all Customer-Owners in its District to give those appliances a second thought by offering to haul away old units and recycle them for free.

EPUD is offering five $1,250 scholarships to EPUD Customer-Owners interested in pursuing a career in the utility industry. This includes both high school seniors graduating in June, and adults seeking second-career training in the field.
EPUD 2010 Budget Approved- Across-the-board cuts & rate increase needed to keep pace with rising costs

The EPUD Board of Directors recently approved the 2010 budget, which outlines EPUD's continued efforts to keep pace with rising costs at minimal impact to its Customer-Owners. Even with the use of $444,000 in cash reserves and nearly $650,000 in cuts to capital expenditures, labor, materials, and energy services, the 2010 budget still requires a rate increase to offset rising costs.
