Extra refrigerators or freezers chugging away in basements and garages can cost residents up to $150 a year in electricity. EPUD, in partnership with JACO Environmental, is encouraging all Customer-Owners in its District to give those appliances a second thought by offering to haul away old units and recycle them for free. In exchange, customers will receive a $30 rebate on their next bill.
This program recycles 95 percent of the materials from these older appliances. Even the foam is safely incinerated to generate electricity, and the overall benefit to global warming is equal to taking two cars off the road per appliance.
All units must be in working condition and at least 10 cu. ft. in size to qualify. Interested parties should call JACO at 866-444-8907 or schedule online at www.jacoinc.net.
